Smooth Jazz is (@#%!)

So, if you didn't know already, New Mexico Smooth Jazz is no more. In fact, if you go the website for New Mexico Smooth Jazz you'll discover that the on-air, music monster Clear Channel changed the format to. . . Albuquerque's Classic Country. Flippin' Yee Haw

Look, plenty of folks have things to say about the validity of the sub category known as "Smooth Jazz." Most Jazz lovers like their Jazz bumpy. Real BUMPY.  To all of our NM Jazz Workshop friends who've called the office, SHOCKED that suddenly they're hearing Kenny Chesney instead of Kenny G-- We FEEL YOU, and we're sorry. But in these challenging, economic times, with all forms of media teetering on the edge of non-existence, for instance, the Boston Globe-- we should all be prepared for riders to switch horses, mid-stream. Think of it as a game of invisible musical chairs or something.

Something to consider: Jazz and its hillbilly tributary, Country are kissing cousins-- the don't talk to each other that much, but they still kinda love each other. If you don't believe me, Netflix a copy of O Brother Where Art Thou?

There's just something about The Soggy Bottom Boys singing Man of Constant Sorrow that touches you in that soft place where Jazz and Country will forever two-step on the dance floor in heaven . . .
