A chat with Bobby Allende

We're gearing up for the first weekend of Salsa and Blues Under the Stars! By the way, we're offering FREE SALSA LESSONS right before the show @ 6:30, so come early to the Albuquerque Museum Amphitheater on May 29th!

For the first Salsa Under the Stars we bring you Ocho y Mas and RumbaTronix.  It's going to be a night to remember at the Museum!

We recently had a short and sweet conversation with Bobby Allende of Ocho y Mas. Check it out:

How do you describe your music? How do you interpret the genre of Salsa?
Hard core salsa with a modern twist.

When did you form the band?

Tell us about the players you're gigging with.
Players? I would prefer to call them geniuses, everyone in this band is in a league of their own.

Why is music so important? What's the ingredient that makes Salsa so vital, vibrant, exciting?
Music is important because in my opinion it's the best way to bring all people together.
Joy is the main ingredient and joy brings everything.

What are your hopes for the future of Salsa?
To bring it back to the way it was in the Palladium and Fania days.

We hope this whets your appetite just a bit! See you at the show!
